This morning, we rode a 3-hour bus from Zagreb to Rovinj, a quaint little fishing village by the sea. We arrived around 1pm, which was too early to check into our lodging, so we stumbled upon this nice seaside restaurant called Maestral. I ordered fresh grilled fish (whole fish, head and all), and Steph a seafood pasta, and we enjoyed our delicious food over an awesome view!
When we actually decided to head to our studio, (we had booked it on airbnb) we actually had a really hard time finding it, because the map we had of Rovinj didn't really have street names, and all the streets are very small and close together. After a few wrong turns/detours, we finally found it! And then proceeded to chill in air-conditioned bliss for a few hours before heading out again.
We explored the Old Town, which like any old town is just a maze of alleyways with lots of cute shops and buildings. But when we tried to find the restaurant we wanted to go to for dinner, it was so hard! We ended up wandering hopelessly without finding it, and then resorted to buying an ice cream cone and asking the server where it was haha. (Since Steph wanted ice cream anyways) The place was Pizzeria da Sergio, which had some amazing thin crust pizzas! We ordered 2 to share, and my fave was the "Gogo", which had Istrian ham, cherry tomatoes, and arugula.
After dinner, we met up with Andre, a friend of mine I had met last semester during a visit day for grad schools, and who spends his summers in Rovinj since his family's from here. (Also the reason we chose to come to such a random place haha) He showed us some of the major sights and the coastline, and then later on we got to meet his friends (a bunch of who apparently just finished exams and are now back home for the summer) and hang out with them before going out. Apparently they had been going to another nightclub for years, but after it closed down last year, they had to find a new place and this was the first time they'd gone. It was pretty good and they just play American music, although it doesn't seem like EDM is really a thing here... However, it ended up closing (or the music stopped) around 3:30am, so they just ended up walking back to have their own after party, and we opted to just head back to our studio.
View of the old town and campanile!

Stumbled across a stand selling these 1D and JB bags!
